Q: How do I get to Kouvola?

Kouvola has excellent public transport, so travelling to the city is easy by rail or road. The travel centre, a busy train and bus station, is in the heart of Kouvola, and you can get right into the action from there. Many local bus services also pass through the travel centre, so it is easy to make your way around town. So jump on the train or the bus to the pearl of South-Eastern Finland, Kouvola.

Drivers have easy road access to Kouvola and plenty of free parking spaces. The drive from Helsinki takes about an hour and a half. You can find more information about the location of Kouvola from VisitKouvola's website.

Q: How big is Kouvola, are services and destinations spread over a wide area?

Kouvola is made up of several districts offering a variety of tourist destinations and activities. As the 10th largest city in Finland Kouvola has a lot to see and experience.

Kouvola’s compact city centre is built around the Manski pedestrian street and travel centre. Here you can access a number of services, from specialist shops to sports and cultural activities, not forgetting restaurants. Kouvola's Museum Quarter, Tykkimäki Amusement Park and Veturi Shopping Centre are not too far from the city centre.

The Kouvola region is bigger than Luxembourg and there is a wide range of things to do – please don’t just stick to the city centre. Kouvola is surrounded by pleasant countryside, beautiful nature and a variety of adventurous activities are on offer. The urban centre has a mix of characterful districts, amenities and interesting tourist destinations.

Q: I don't own a car, how can I get around the Kouvola area?

We have comprehensive local transport coverage to help you to move around the city, so you won't miss anything. The best way is to hop on a bus from Kouvola travel centre, as you can reach almost all destinations from there. You can check the timetables from Matkahuolto, using Kouvola travel centre as a starting point and your destination as the end station. You can buy a ticket from the driver.

You can get to Tykkimäki from the travel centre on line H3. You can easily get to Repovesi National Park by bus or group taxi during the summer season. To get to Arboretum Mustila along Highway 6, take the local or long distance services going to Elimäki. Get off at Alppiruusu, and the plants and beautiful blooms of Mustila are just 500 metres away. The UNESCO World Heritage site, Verla Groundwood and Board Mill, is also accessible by bus.

The alternatives to public transport include taxi services and car rental providers – charter transport for groups can also be arranged.

Kouvola offers a wide range of accommodation to suit every taste and budget, for both individual tourists and groups. On top of the hotels in the city centre, there is a variety of options in the countryside.

Kouvola tourist information comes out to meet you. Especially in the summer, you can find us at a diverse array of events and locations. Additionally, our tourist information provides a year-round service on our website, email, chat and telephone.

You can find brochures and maps online, at Kouvola travel centre, the city hall service point and the Hansa Centre. You can also pick up a brochure from other places in and around Kouvola such as the ABC petrol stations or many tourist destinations.
