The area of Mustila
When Axel Fredrik Tigerstedt, Councillor of State, geologist and dendrologist began to cultivate Mustila Manor at Elimäki in the early 1900s, he could not have guessed what it would become. He began trial plantings of foreign conifers on a hill near the manor and so began Arboretum Mustila, whose Douglas firs now rise to a height of about 40 m. In May and June, so many people come to admire the trees in our park that we’re lucky if there is room for ourselves to admire sea of blooms in Rhododendron Valley.
