Unique World Heritage site Verla

Verla area radiates the atmosphere of the turn of the 19th century. This destination combines culture, history, architecture, activities and nature.


In 1972 Verla's groundwood and board mill became Finland's first mill museum. The museum is a part of the World Heritage site.

It is a 32 km ride from the centre of Kouvola to Verla. You can reach Verla also by taxi from the Kouvola railway station and in summer time by bus.

The Verla Mill Museum is open during the summer season: 

from 2 May to 1 October, Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00–16:00.
From Midsummer to 15 August, the museum is open every day, 10:00–18:00.
