The frothing rapids of Finnish film
In the 40's and 50's you could see some authentic movie stars in Iitti.
The Mankala Rapids at Iitti on Kymijoki River began attracting travellers and anglers at the beginning of the 20th century. The reputation of Mankala rapids grew when they began shooting Finnish lumberjack films there. All in all, a dozen or so lumberjack films were made. The five rapids of Mankala disappeared, in the early 1950s, when the Mankala Power Station was built at Kaurakoski.
