Public transport to destinations in Kouvola
During the summer season, you can conveniently and responsibly reach various destinations in Kouvola using public transport. Thus, you can also give your own car a little summer break.
Below, we have compiled tips on how to reach places like Repovesi National Park, Tykkimäki Amusement Park, and Verla using public transport during the summer season. You can reach Kouvola by train from several directions, and the Travel Center is conveniently located right in the city center. From the center, you will find plenty of different cafes and restaurants.

Käyrälampi
You can conveniently reach Käyrälampi by bus on weekends during the summer season. The local bus schedules take into account the VR train schedules, so you can continue your journey to Käyrälampi upon arriving by train in Kouvola.
With the same bus, you can get to both Tykkimäki Sauna and the vicinity of Tykkimäki Resort. The bus also stops at Tykkimäki Amusement Park.

- You can also conveniently reach the Käyrälampi area from downtown Kouvola by bike or even with a scooter. If you left your bike at home, you can always rent a city bike from downtown using the Donkey Republic app.

Repovesi National Park
You can reach Repovesi National Park by bus and train during the summer season.
By train to Repovesi
VR operates train services to Hillosensalmi station again during the summer season, from where you can continue your journey to Repovesi National Park by local bus. The bus waits for passengers arriving by train and takes them to the entrance of Lapinsalmi.
During the summer season 2025 (April 26 – September 29), the following train services will stop at Hillosensalmi:
- IC 63 Mon–Sun from Helsinki at 8:19 – Hillosensalmi at 10:13.
- IC 68 Mon–Sun from Kuopio at 14:20 – Hillosensalmi at 16:42.

From Hillosensalmi stop, it is about 9 kilometers to the parking and entrance area of Lapinsalmi. The distance by water to Karhulahdi is about 3 kilometers.
- From Hillosensalmi, you can continue your journey to Lapsinsalmi by local transport bus. You can find the schedules in the route planner.
- No advance reservation is needed for the bus ride.
- Payment options on the bus include cash or Waltti ticket products. Bank cards are not accepted as a form of payment.
By bus to Repovesi
In the summer, you can also reach Repovesi National Park by bus. The bus also goes to Verla, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
- You can take buses 5 and 15 to Repovesi.

Tykkimäki Amusement Park and Aquapark
You can conveniently reach Tykkimäki Amusement Park by car, and there are plenty of free parking spaces at the amusement park, but you can also get there by bus.
- You can easily reach the amusement park using local transport buses from downtown Kouvola. You can find bus schedules at the route planner.
- You can also reach the amusement park on weekends during the summer with the local transport bus that operates to Käyrälampi.
- From the amusement park, you can easily walk to the shores of Käyrälampi, where you will also find Tykkimäki Aquapark.
- You can conveniently reach Tykkimäki Amusement Park and Aquapark from downtown Kouvola by bike or even with a scooter. If you left your bike at home, you can always rent a city bike from downtown using the Donkey Republic app.

Verla UNESCO World Heritage Site
The setting of the Verla UNESCO World Heritage Site is a stunning destination year-round, and you can reach the World Heritage site by bus in addition to your own car.
- You can reach Verla by local transport bus during the summer season, which also operates to Repovesi National Park.
- You can also reach Verla from Kouvola Travel Center with other local transport bus services. You can find the current schedules at the route planner.
The train ride to Kouvola takes just over an hour from Helsinki, and the journey from Tampere takes just over two hours. So hop on the train, sit back in the restaurant car to enjoy, and soon you’ll be in Kouvola exploring various experiences and activities.
