Along the Kymijoki River
The area of Kymijoki
Our own river is Kymijoki. We used to deposit into it waste water from our paper mills, but we then noticed that it was not very nice for people and fish to splash about in a slimy mixture of chlorine and mercury. Now pikeperch, asp and rainbow trout leap in Kymijoki, as well as sea trout and grayling. In the rapids sections of the river, we practise floating and shooting the rapids and those living on its shores go swimming in both summer and winter.
The atmosphere of Anjala manor and, on the opposite shore of the Kymi River, the culture park, museums and Alvar Aalto sites, presents a colourful palette of culture, art and events. The area has activities for families, people on the move, culture lovers and anyone seeking relaxed summer vibes!
